What a swingers club actually is (and isn't)

A swingers club is a night out for adults where the atmosphere allows for more than dancing. Infinity SW Club is in Playa del Inglés, minutes from Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria: a dance floor, a premium bar, a chill & lounge area, a VIP room and a private area at the back.

The front of the club works like any other late bar. The private area is a different world, and it is entirely optional: you go in if you feel like it and leave whenever you want.

That is the whole idea behind the house line: everything may happen, nothing is expected. Nobody keeps score of what you do.

Before you come: booking, hours and not much else

You don't need experience, a particular body or a picture-perfect relationship. You need to be over 18 and willing to treat people well.

We open Wednesday to Sunday from 9pm. Wednesday and Thursday until 3am; Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 4am. Monday and Tuesday we are closed.

• Eat first and take your time. The night is long.

Arriving: entry, locker and what to wear

You pay at the door: €20 for a couple, €20 for a single woman, €50 for a single man. That includes a locker and two drinks, so the first thing you do is put your things away and order something at the bar.

The locker is yours all night, for your phone and your jacket. If you need more room, an extra locker with two towels is €5, and a single towel at the bar is €3.50.

Then nothing happens, which is exactly the point. Nobody introduces you to anyone or steers you into any room.

Dress smart. Looking after your appearance is part of respecting everyone else, so think shirt, dress, something you can dance in. Saturday runs on dark elegance, and Thursday is FKK, the naturist night, when clothes stay in the locker.

In the private area plenty of people strip down to underwear or a towel, and plenty stay dressed all night. You change when you want to.

How to ask, and how to say no

One rule holds everything else up: no means no, first time of asking. There is no second attempt and no charming persistence. Anyone who doesn't get that is shown the door.

Asking is done with words and eye contact, to both halves of a couple rather than just to her. You ask before you touch. And if the answer is "thanks, not tonight", the conversation ends there.

Saying no is just as easy. You owe nobody a reason, an apology or an awkward smile to soften it. "No, thank you" is a full sentence.

• Talk to both people in a couple.
• Never join a scene you weren't invited into.
• A no stands all night and shouldn't have to be repeated.

If you only want to watch

Plenty of people spend their whole first night between the dance floor, the bar and the chill & lounge, without going near the private area. Nobody thinks twice about it.

You can watch in the private area too, with manners: wait to be invited or ask first, keep your distance, don't touch and don't comment.

And if you change your mind halfway through the night, you stop. Agree a word beforehand that means "back to the bar", and use it without negotiating. If someone ignores a limit, tell the staff.

Hygiene, discretion and no photos

Hygiene here is not a detail, it is basic manners: shower before you leave home, clean clothes, and your towel with you in the private area.

Photography and filming are banned throughout the club, without exception. That is why phones stay in the locker, and it is exactly why everyone else can relax.

Discretion runs both ways: nobody asks for surnames or job titles, and nobody repeats who they saw inside. We never publish guest lists either.

The easiest night to start with

If you are a couple, come on a Wednesday. Couples Night · Date Night is couples only, elegant and unhurried, with all the time you need to look around and decide.

If you would rather dance, Friday is Hot & Thirsty Friday, with a DJ. Saturday's Indulge in the Night is the big one, Thursday's FKK Night Party is naturist, and Sunday's Gangbang Night is the most explicit.
